Signing in to Beacon

You are identified to Beacon by your email address. When you attempt a login, you’ll notice that no password is needed, ever. Instead, when you sign in we immediately email you a "magic link" to securely sign in to Beacon. Note that magic links can be used only once. If you need to sign in again, a new magic link will be emailed to you. More details on magic links can be found below.

If your email address is associated with multiple organizations (more details below), when you sign in to Beacon you will automatically be authenticated into all of your organizations and you can easily switch between organizations.

Note that you will need to set your name, first and last, and an avatar picture for each organization you belong to.

Magic Links#

Passwords are inherently insecure. Fortunately, you won’t need one with Beacon. When you sign in to Beacon, whether for the first time or any thereafter, Beacon will immediately email you a magic link.

Magic links are signed, one-time-use links to authenticate into Beacon. Signed means they include a token ensures they aren’t tampered with. One-time-use means that once you successfully sign into Beacon with a magic link, it cannot be reused. Don’t worry, if you need to login again (from another device or because you logged out) simply enter your email address at the login page and Beacon will immediately email you a new magic link.

Note that magic links expire after 3 minutes. This means that if you request a magic link and more than 3 minutes elapses before you use it, it will be expired for security reasons. You can easily request a new magic link by signing in again.
