Teams

Within a Beacon organization, you can have one or more teams. Teams are a collection of users and robots. Users can belong to one or more teams. However, robots belong to a single team.

Teams can have any logical name. You want to name your teams based on the work cell or facility name. Importantly, user permissions (other than the organization administrator) is enforced at the team level. This means that different users can have different access to different teams. More on this below.

Team Roles#

A user within your organization will only see teams for which they have access to. A user’s role within a team will dictate what that user can do within a team.

Role: Team Manager#

Team Managers can add or remove other users as well as change permissions of any user on that team. A Team Manager can also rename the team, add charts, and remove any users’ charts from that team.

Role: Team Editor#

Team Editors can add charts and remove only charts they created on that team. Team Editors can also register new robots into that team.

Role: Team Viewer#

Team Viewers have read-only access to the team. However, a Team Viewer can post chat messages within the team.

Team Charts#

On the Home tab of a team, you can have one or more charts. Charts are visible to all team members and allow you to visualize event data from within that team. Typically, charts will show system or custom events from your robots.

Team Robots#

A robot will belong to a single team. The Robots tab will show you which robots have been registered to that team. Team Managers and Team Editors can register additional robots on a team.

Team Chat#

Each team is set up with it’s own Chat. You can get to a Team Chat by navigating to the Chat tab. Chat is a great way to communicate with your colleagues and partners in the context of a Beacon team.

Note that anyone with visibility to a team can read and contribute to the conversation.
